Improv & Sketch Showcase feat. Dawson's Queef, Pizza Party & The Court Stenographers of Comedy

  • Space 55 636 East Pierce Street Phoenix, AZ, 85004 United States (map)

Bird City Comedy Festival proudly presents some of the best improv and sketch around. Hosted by comedian Jessie Johnson, this dynamic show features performances from:

The Court Stenographers of Comedy are a roving band of misfits putting on sketch variety shows all over New England.

Pizza Party is a two-man long-form improv troupe that performs 25-minute stories of interwoven vignettes, sometimes closely related, sometimes only related by theme. Featuring AriZoni Award Winner Michael Margetis and Proud Dog Owner Samuel John Lowy, Pizza Party has performed at local favorites like Valley Bar and Crescent Ballroom. Although Pizza Party has only been in existence for a little over a year, Michael and Sam have been performing improv and sketch comedy together as a part of other troupes in the Valley, as well as touring in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles for the past eight years.

Dawson's Queef is a sketch and improv troupe that has been performing around the valley since 2011. What started as an improvised teenage drama morphed into a sketch troupe investigating the human condition. Dawson's Queef has also performed in showcases such as the 2012 Del Close Marathon, Second City Hollywood Cagematch and will be performing in the IFC showcase at the 2017 San Fransico Sketch Fest this January. Dawson's Queef also filmed a 17-minute web series pilot about friendship, romance and ventriloquism back in 2014 that was featured on Funny or Die. The current cast of Dawson's Queef includes Ben Backhaus, Kyle Coughlin, Jessie Johnson, Carly Kastner, Samuel John Lowy, Michael Margetis, Mat Montgomery Michael Skarsten, Kaitlin Thursby and Ty Thursby.
